Chapter 290: The Legendary Uncle Xie (4) “Sir, a Mr. Xie wishes to speak to you.”
A guard approached the chubby man the moment he walked out of the control room.
Mr. Xie?
Could it be his old boss?
He took the encrypted satellite phone from the guard and spoke gruffly, “Hello. I am Qie Yiyan.”
“I am Xie Xuning.”
A familiar voice could be heard from the other end of the phone. “Sir, what are your instructions?” Qie Yiyan no longer sounded gruff; he was now tame.
“Qie Yiyan, is there a girl called Ye Tianxin on the name list for the training this time?” Xie Xuning asked matter-of-factly.
“Yes, Sir. Ye Tianxin is someone with potential that we have observed for quite some time. We followed her for about a month.”
Qie Yiyan was stout, and the military uniform he was wearing looked as if it would burst any time.
And when he smiled, he looked very much like a Buddha.
However, everyone who knew Qie Yiyan was aware that he used to be a tall, slender, and fit handsome man. However, he had been injured after a mission once and had been injected with some drugs. Those drugs came with side effects, mostly affecting his weight.
“From what I know, didn’t Ye Tianxin reject the invitation from the National Defense University?”
“Sir, I know what you mean. You want to say that what I am doing is against regulations. But before you say anything, please hear me out,” Qie Yiyan began. “Sir, as you know, one has to uncover potential talent. I have set my sights on Ye Tianxin. If the Li family or the Jing family wants you to convince me otherwise, please tell them that I will not let her go.”
Xie Xuning smiled when he heard Qie Yiyan’s response. “Do we have to change your nickname from the Smiling Buddha to something else?”
Qie Yiyan rubbed his hand over his face. “It’s alright, Sir. Don’t worry. Ye Tianxin is a great potential talent that I have followed for a while. I will not let her be harmed.”
Xie Xuning ended the call with Qie Yiyan.
He picked up his personal phone and spoke, “Xinghe, you heard him as well, haven’t you? Nothing will happen to Ye Tianxin.”
“Thank you, Uncle.” Xie Xinghe heaved a sigh of relief. He was also worried that if anything were to happen to Ye Tianxin, his wife would not let the matter rest. He did not want to sleep on the couch...again. “Then I shall hang up now, Uncle.”
Jing Zhichen sat by the side and tousled his hair. “Qie Yiyan is really making trouble. He is behaving exactly like a bandit right now.”
“You have to be understanding of Qie Yiyan. Everyone likes those with talents, and he is no exception.”
Xie Xinghe placed his hand on Jing Zhichen’s shoulder.
Xie Xinghe was a handsome man. However, the scar on his face made him look rugged and intimidating.
Jing Zhichen could not resist mumbling, “Then couldn’t he have informed us? I was so worried! I was thinking that something bad had happened to our Tianxin!”
“Alright, alright. Go back and rest. I am heading back as well.”
Xie Xinghe returned home. His wife was sitting on the sofa, reading. Xie Xinghe took off his jacket and walked up to his wife. He muttered softly, “Honey.”
“There’s no use having a sweet tongue. Tell me the truth. Where did you go last night?” Li Xingchen pushed Xie Xinghe’s head away.
Li Xingchen’s strength was no match for Xie Xinghe. He pulled his wife into his arms and a gust of hot air blew into Li Xingchen’s ears.
“Your future sister-in-law went missing. Jing Zhichen was so worried and flustered. I met with him and helped locate Tianxin.”
