“Zhiwei, don’t think about it too much. Calm down. If it’s necessary, I’ll ask Xuning to check up on Li Bai.”
Li Zhiwei shook her head while crying. “It’s all right, Qie Wang. Xuning’s situation is not looking good. I heard from my father that many people already know that he’s lost his leg, so he may have to resign from the army. We shouldn’t give him any more trouble.”
Qie Wang was just about to say that Xie Xuning’s leg had not been amputated. Fortunately, Ye Tianxin was quick enough to stop him. She pinched him hard on his arm, causing him to loudly yelp.
“Argh...!”
Li Zhiwei was concerned when she heard him scream. “Qie Wang, are you all right?”
“Oh, I kicked the chair accidentally with my foot.” He regained his senses immediately. If Ye Tianxin had not pinched him in time, he would have accidentally revealed something.
“Even if Xuning is no longer a commander, his troops are still around. Besides, he has enough friends and comrades to help check on this. There shouldn’t be any problem.”
“Would that be too much trouble for Xuning? I just argued with Ye Linlang at the bridal salon.”
“Let me ask him.”
“All right. I’ll hang up first. Qie Wang, please call me if you hear any news.”
“Okay.”
Qie Wang put down the phone and tried to explain to Ye Tianxin. “Tianxin, I swear I did not say anything just now.”
“Qie Wang, if I had not pinched you, would you have realized what was happening?” Ye Tianxin knew that Qie Wang would one day be fooled by Li Zhiwei. Did he not know that she was trying to charm him?
“No, I wouldn’t have said anything even if you did not pinch me.” Qie Wang tried to defend himself. However, when Li Zhiwei mentioned her brother, Li Zhixing, Qie Wang had felt a sense of remorse.
“Qie Wang, I don’t want Li Zhiewei to come between my parents. I hope you won’t be her accomplice in this matter. If it really happens, I don’t think I could ever forgive you...”
Qie Wang nodded his head profusely. He would do that.
Ye Tianxin returned to Xie Xuning’s room. She reported to everyone about the conversation between Qie Wang and Li ZHiwei.
“Li Bai’s immigration details are correct. What if X is not from our country?” Xie Xuning pondered hard.
“Dad, whoever he is, I’m sure he must have something to do with Li Zhiwei.”
Ye Tianxin frowned at how detestable Li Zhiwei was. She just would not leave them alone.
“Tianxin, don’t bother with this right now. Tell Qingcang that whatever Professor Xu is working on is the hard work of many people. It must never reach Li Bai’s hands. Professor has plenty to lose if it does. It will also be a big loss to the country.”
Ye Tianxin nodded and called Li Qingcang.
Li Qingcang arrived at Professor Xu’s house.
“Hey, Qingcang, why are you here?” Xu Yuan was pleasantly surprised to see Li Qingcang.
Li Qingcang, on the other hand, was shocked to see Xu Yuan. Ever since the incident at the training camp, he was under the impression that Xu Yuan was sent overseas.
“When did you come back?”
Xu Yuan replied in a gentle voice, “I came back not too long ago. Dad and Mom are already so old. I want to spend New Year with them. Are you here to look for Dad?”
“Is he at home?”
Xu Yuan nodded. “He is in his study. I’ll bring you there.”
“All right. Thanks.”
Li Qingcang looked around the house. Nothing much had changed since his last visit. He stood outside the study and knocked.
Xu Yuan said, “Professor Xu, you star pupil is here to see you.”
