"What do you mean by that? Do you think Tangtang will harm me?
President Tan’s face immediately darkened as he shot his son a glare. "Since she’s the one who had given it to me, I’m sure there aren’t any problems with the pill. Don’t slander her!"
Tan Jian’s eyes widened momentarily and quickly backed off. With an attitude like that, he wasn’t that afraid of his father’s "declining health". In fact, he was as bright as day. "Fine, fine."
He’d just have to send the picture of the pill bottle without his father knowing.
Tan Jian brought him a cup of warm water and let him take one pill. Then, he turned off the light and quietly left his father’s room.
Once he was alone, he took the bottle out of his pocket and grabbed himself a pill. He might as well scan this during the drug test later.
He dialed his friend’s number.
Soon, a hearty voice came from the other end of the phone. "Tan Jian, I was just about to call you. You’re in Beijing, right? Want to come and visit? I’m in Office 320 at the Beijing Medical Research Institute. If you want to come over, all you have to do is call my name."
"Actually," he hesitated at first before responding.
"I need your help looking into the composition of this pill I have. I was told that it’s for the treatment of one’s physical and spiritual health, so its raw materials should be made up of different herbs. Can you take a look at it?"
"Of course! We’re old friends!"
"Do you mind coming over? I’m staying at the hotel next to the Music Association. Just call me when you’re free."Tan Jian was overjoyed when he heard his friend agree.
He quickly hung up. However, when he saw Yao Tang standing behind him, he immediately froze. How long had she been there? How much had she heard?
"I..." His face appeared flushed. "I was just chatting with an old friend. I asked him to bring some tonics over."
At this point, he didn’t know how to explain.
A part of him was afraid that Yao Tang would be offended that they didn’t trust her. He was also afraid that she’d overthink his intentions and be disappointed in him.
But he really just wanted to check!
To his relief, she acted as if she didn’t hear anything. Instead, she nodded in his direction and prepared to leave.
"My friend came to Beijing today, so I won’t be back for dinner tonight, okay? You don’t have to wait for me," she said casually.
"Alright, I know."
Tan Jian nodded repeatedly. When she finally left the room, he breathed a sigh of relief, slumping back onto his seat.
Yao Tang walked out of the hotel and toward the city square. There, she saw Lin Xinand her other classmates waiting for her. As soon as they saw her from afar, they immediately brightened up.
"Sister Tang!" Qin Jing yelled out in surprise.Meng Yang also looked over.
When she had applied for leave in school for the past few days, the entire classroom felt as if they didn’t have the motivation. So as soon as they heard that Yao Tang was in Beijing, they decided to take advantage and take a weekend trip to the city.
"Why are you guys here?" Yao Tang asked out of curiosity.
If it was in the past, they would’ve grabbed the opportunity to have fun and stay at home, especially when they finally had a long break from school. They wouldn’t have come all the way to Beijing.
Moreover, they came together.
The time they spent on the road must’ve taken hours.
"Grandpa misses me, so I came all the way to Beijing to see you. I just happen to come to see you too, that’s all!" Qin Jing pulled on her arm.
"What about the two of them?"
She nodded in Lin Xin and Meng Yang’s direction.
"The two of them?" Qin Jing arched up an eyebrow. "I wouldn’t come here alone, so they accompanied me."
Upon hearing this, the two nodded quickly.
It was obviously a good opportunity to relax and see their Sister Tang. That’s why they came.
Just the thought of all the good food they have yet to try, Lin Xin’s eyes lit up in anticipation and excitement.
She was silent for a while before asking, "Have you finished the test papers that were assigned?"
At that point, the three of them all looked at each other. In the end, Lin Xin stuck out her tongue. "Just this once, we’ll make it up to you in the future, okay, Sister Tang?"
Her voice was as sweet as butter.
