Chapter 472: You Are the Best Mom I’ve Ever Seen
In the past, Yan Qingsi would not hesitate to glare at Yue Tingfeng, but today, she smiled instead. “That’s right, Auntie. You have such keen eyes — not everyone can see the good side of me as you did. And not everyone is like you — you never look at me with contempt.”
Yan Qingsi was immensely grateful toward Mrs. Yue — she gave her the respect any other person would get.
Even on the day they first met, Mrs. Yue did not treat her how others treated her.
Mrs. Yue raised her head gradually and turned to Yan Qingsi. She still looked helpless and sorrowful. After going through the traumatizing incident, Mrs. Yue remained in a state of unease. She gazed at Yan Qingsi with the vulnerable eyes of a child. “Is that true?”
Yan Qingsi nodded. “Of course it is. You are the best mom I’ve ever seen.”
Listening to their conversation made Yue Tingfeng’s heart sink — he thought that he was strong enough to protect them.
However, after today’s incident, he realized that he was far from capable.
Yue Tingfeng joked, “Ma, look, even Qingsi says so. Don’t you think you should quickly help your son to convince her to marry me? Wouldn’t it be so much better if she calls you ‘Mom’ instead of ‘Auntie’? Your son’s charms aren’t powerful enough, so I’ll have to depend on you, Ma.”
A faint smile finally appeared on Mrs. Yue’s face.
Yan Qingsi opened the room door with her key card and they entered the room. Yue Tingfeng placed Mrs. Yue onto the bed gently and tucked her in.
When Yan Qingsi was going to get a cup of water for Mrs. Yue, Mrs. Yue grabbed her hand abruptly. “Qingsi, don’t go...”
Seeing Mrs. Yue’s woeful expression, Yan Qingsi smiled and assured, “Don’t worry. I’m not going anywhere.”
Mrs. Yue could have collapsed if Yan Qingsi showed up any later.
Yan Qingsi’s presence gave Mrs. Yue the strength to push on. Although her condition was still horrid, it would have been much worse if Yan Qingsi was not there.
When Yan Qingsi stepped in to help Mrs. Yue, she had always been alone and helpless — the first time, she was grateful; the second, she gave her her trust; the third, she became reliant on her.
At that moment, Mrs. Yue was more reliant on Yan Qingsi than she was on Yue Tingfeng.
Yue Tingfeng’s despair cannot be put into words. He had always had a unique bond with his mother that no one else could begin to understand. Seeing Mrs. Yue’s condition now, his heart shattered.
In spite of that, he kept his smile and wrapped his arms around Mrs. Yue’s shoulders. “Ma, don’t be afraid. Look how strong Qingsi is. With her around, no one can hurt you.”
Yan Qingsi nodded. “Auntie, I will protect you. When it comes to fighting, no one stands a chance against me. Just like playing cards, I can win as many rounds as I like. Auntie, take a nap. You need to recharge. Then, I’ll bring you out to get your justice.”
Yan Qingsi took off her shoes and her coat. She lifted the blanket and lied down beside Mrs. Yue. “I’m so tired from shooting films all morning. I’ll sleep for a while too.”
Yan Qingsi’s body was a little chilly, but it gave Mrs. Yue a sense of security. She nodded and closed her eyes.
The incident had drained all of Mrs. Yue’s energy. Leaning onto Yan Qingsi, she drifted into sleep in no time.
Yan Qingsi did not dare to move. Yue Tingfeng gestured to her that he was going out.
Once he stepped out the door, he took out his phone and made a call.
“Inform every hotel in Hai City that anyone who offers Yue Pengcheng and Ding Fu a room will be opposing my will. That’s right — I want to strip them of any opportunity to continue staying in this country.”
