Chapter 349: I May Have Fallen out of Favor
Yue Tingfeng whispered, “You’re up...”
Upon hearing Yue Tingfeng’s voice, Yan Qingsi immediately sobered up. She hastily straightened her back and asked, “How long was I asleep?”
“It’s still early. It’s only a little past four in the afternoon.”
“This late?” Yan Qingsi quickly got out of covers and got out of bed.
Yue Tingfeng held her back and asked, ” Where are you going?”
Yan Qingsi tucked her hair behind her ears. “I should head to the set.”
Yue Tingfeng pushed Yan Qingsi down and commented, “Look at yourself, pale as a ghost. You’re going nowhere.”
“I can’t. I have a part in tonight’s shooting. There aren’t many parts left so it should be done this week. I can’t slow down their progress.”
Yue Tingfeng saw how determined she was and replied helplessly, “It’s not even dark yet. Why are you in such a hurry? I’ll send you over after dinner.”
Yan Qingsi nodded. “Okay!”
Yue Tingfeng frowned slightly. “You’re a woman. Don’t overexert yourself.”
“I’m not.”
Yue Tingfeng snickered.
He did not talk about her car crash, and did not try to console her because Yan Qingsi was not the type of person that needed consolations. She was like a lizard who had lost its tail. Although it hurts, she does not require any assistance. She could stand back up on her own two feet.
She was that type of person. She was small but not weak. She was stronger than anyone, but at the same time unbelievably fragile.
Yue Tingfeng led Yan Qingsi downstairs.
Mrs. Yue looked up and saw them. “You’re awake. Drink that milk.”
Yan Qingsi was surprised. She did not expect Mrs. Yue to prepare a glass of milk for her.
As Aunt Wu passed the glass of milk to Yan Qingsi, she muttered, “I haven’t had milk in many years.”
“Just drink it. I had Aunt Wu add sugar in it for you. It won’t have any weird taste.”
Yue Tingfeng looked at the table and noticed there was no second glass. He asked, “Ma, where’s mine?”
Mrs. Yue scratched her head. “You? Aunt Wu, pass him a bottle of mineral water.”
“Ma, why do I feel like I have fallen out of favor?”
Mrs. Yue looked incredulous. “Since when were you ever favored?”
Yan Qingsi burst into laughter and coughed. “Sorry, I couldn’t keep it in...”
Yue Tingfeng saw that Yan Qingsi had finally smiled. He really liked to see her face painted with a smile. No matter what type of smile it was—be it out of ruthlessness, or plotting against someone—as long as she was smiling.
“Ma, I just praised you for being wise and smart. Why are you making fun of me all of a sudden?”
Mrs. Yue shrugged. “I can’t just outright lie right?”
Yue Tingfeng decided to stop this topic right there. “Ma, Qingsi needs to head to the film set tonight.”
Mrs. Yue looked at the time and noticed that it was almost five o’clock. She got up immediately and said, “Oh, I better start making dinner. You can go after dinner.”
Yan Qingsi felt a warmth in her heart. She was jealous that Yue Tingfeng had a mother like that. She once had it too, but lost it, and can no longer get it back.
“I’ll go take a look in the kitchen too.” Yan Qingsi placed the unfinished glass of milk in Yue Tingfeng’s hands.
Yue Tingfeng slanted his head. While looking at Yan Qingsi’s hair he suddenly lowered his head and kissed Yan Qingsi. Using the tip of his tongue, he licked off the milk that was left on her lips. “Not a bad taste.”
Yan Qingsi blushed. From afar, Mrs. Yue was leaning on the kitchen door peeking at them. Her gaze met with Yan Qingsi and she immediately acted as though nothing happened, turned around, and went back to washing vegetables.
Yan Qingsi pinched Yue Tingfeng on his arm, pushed him aside, and headed to the kitchen.
