Chapter 831: You Said You Would Let Me Bed You for Life; Then I Should Test You Out
In the Yue family estate, Yan Qingsi was on a call with You Yi.
“Wait for me to finish up my business here and go back. Be careful when you go out, okay?”
You Yi’s voice was unclear over the phone as if he was outside. Yan Qingsi nodded her head. “All right. I understand.”
“The Ye family won’t make a move for now. They won’t dare to touch you even if you run into them. Don’t worry about them.”
“Mmhmm. I’ve never cared about them.”
You Yi went silent for a while on the other side of the line. “What happened to your mother is not as simple as it looks,” he finally said, “It’s probably a lot more complicated than we think, but don’t worry about it. I’ll definitely find the truth about this.”
Yan Qingsi’s chest tightened. It seemed like it was just as she had imagined, that her mother’s death was not that simple. It was not just a straightforward case of a b*stard abandoning his wife for another woman. It most likely involved some other bigger problem.
“Do you need me to do anything?” Yan Qingsi asked.
“Just take good care of yourself,” You Yi answered, “It’ll be fine so long as you keep yourself safe.”
“It’s my mother we’re talking about,” Yan Qingsi said earnestly, “I can’t just sit around while you go and do all the hard work. If you need any help, I hope that you can tell me. I need to fully understand the reason for my mother’s death.”
“All right,” You Yi agreed after contemplating the proposal for two seconds.
“By the way, if someone else asks about me,” he said, “Don’t tell them that I’m back in Hai city.”
“Got it. I won’t tell anyone.” Yan Qingsi surmised that You Yi went back to Hai city in a discrete manner this time to investigate the mystery of the necklace.
If this would create havoc, just as he said, then... Wouldn’t he be in danger?
Uneasiness settled over Yan Qingsi.
“I can’t talk much longer,” You Yi said, “My phone is running out of battery.”
Yan Qingsi hesitated. “You...be careful,” she said.
“Don’t worry. Nothing will happen to me. Once I’ve finished investigating in a few days, I’ll come and see you.”
The call ended. Panic abruptly seized her heart. She could not pinpoint the exact reason why. She just felt as though something terrifying awaits her in the future.
Yan Qingsi had always thought that her mother was an ordinary woman. Now though, the clues that were gradually being excavated were pointing towards the fact that her mother’s life and birthright were not so simple.
Yue Tingfeng pushed the door open and entered. “What’s wrong?” he asked when he noticed Yan Qingsi’s somber expression, “What happened?”
“It’s nothing. It’s just that... I’m a little worried about Mianmian. I don’t know where she is now. I don’t how she is.” Yan Qingsi did not speak about her mother’s situation after a moment of hesitation. It was a serious thing after all, and it was dangerous. She needed to think it through.
Yue Tingfeng hugged Yan Qingsi. “It’s basically about others’ feelings. Ye Shaoguang did help us that day. He’s definitely not someone who toys around with a woman’s heart. He might not be a nice guy, but he’s pretty good in this aspect.”
Yan Qingsi sighed. Ji Mianmian had called her earlier to report that she was fine, telling her to not worry about her.
After that, there was no more news.
Yan Qingsi did not know that Ji Mianmian was lounging on a couch at that very moment, a mess piling on the table before her. She was watching a variety show on the television, laughing so hard that tears almost spilled out of her eyes. She lifted a leg and kicked Ye Shaoguang. “I want fried chicken. Hurry up!”
“Ji Mianmian, it’s almost two in the morning,” Ye Shaoguang said, teeth clenched. “Don’t you need to sleep?”
Ji Mianmian lifted her head, her expression vexed. “Didn’t you say that you would let me bed you for life? Then I need to test you out first! If you don’t let me test you, how am I supposed to know if you’re good or bad?”
Ye Shaoguang nearly wanted to spew blood. So her ‘test’ entailed letting her stay up all night? “Geez,” he said, tone irate, “Then you should come here immediately to test me out,”
