So Many Shameless People These Days 3
Qin Chu stared into Huo Mian’s eyes and smiled. Then he said, slowly and word by word, “Listen to me. You’re my wife, the most important person in my life. Even if you commit murder or arson, even if you commit a hundred sins and are condemned by society, I will still love you like I do now.”
Huo Mian knew that Qin Chu rarely said anything romantic; he only said things that were true and from the heart. Therefore, upon listening to his words, Huo Mian’s eyes became misty.
“Don’t tell me you’re going to cry...” Qin Chu reached out and rubbed the tip of Huo Mian’s nose gently as if he were consoling a crying child.
“No, no, that’s not it. I, um, am hungry... I want something to eat.”
“Sure, what do you want? I’ll ask a chef to send some food over.”
“No, I want you to make me black pepper pasta.”
Qin Chu: “...”
“Pretty please?” Huo Mian asked coyishly.
“Sure, why not?”
“It’s actually your son who wants black pepper pasta, not me.” Huo Mian smiled.
“How can my son be the scapegoat for everyone before he’s even born?”
“Hahaha...” Huo Mian burst out in laughter. She always found Qin Chu’s cold jokes funny.
Huo Mian’s birthday party ended soon after. After midnight, Tang Chuan arranged a raffle and gave the guests a lot of presents.
After the party was over, the cruise ship returned to the dock, and everyone left, one by one.
It was already 1:30 AM when Huo Mian and her family arrived back at South Hill Manor. Pudding and Little Bean, exhausted from the fun and games, had fallen asleep in the car.
“It’s finally over...” Huo Mian leaned against Qin Chu’s shoulder and sighed heavily in relief.
Qin Chu knew what she was worried about. Although Huo Siqian had gotten away, his lackies died; Nie Lingxuan was hypnotized and controlled by god knows who.
Although Professor Lu fed Nie Lingxuan an antidote that cured her, she was still in danger of being hypnotized again.
After what happened, Huo Mian also asked Qin Chu to warn Rick about what happened, so he could better protect Xixi, who was almost due to give birth.
Qin Chu got rid of the people Ian arranged with the help of Professor Lu’s high-tech GPS. Although Lu Yan showed up out of nowhere, Huo Mian wasn’t surprised. If Lu Yan hadn’t come, the bug Zeng Rou placed might have recorded more information that would jeopardize them.
Huo Mian wasn’t completely satisfied with the outcome of the evening – after all, Huo Siqian and Zeng Rou both left unscathed. However, she was relieved that nothing bad happened to anyone she loved, especially since it was her birthday party.
Huo Mian also knew that Zeng Rou was screwed as well. She didn’t complete her mission, so she had nothing to report to her superiors. Moreover, Zeng Rou didn’t know that Lu Yan, the person she wanted to monitor the most, had returned. She didn’t even get a chance to see her.
Zeng Rou disembarked the ship right before Su Yu and Han Yueyao. She said with deep sarcasm. “Ha, isn’t it great to have a guardian? How times have changed.”
In the past, Su Yu might’ve felt bad and asked An to give Zeng Rou a ride home. But now... as if he didn’t hear anything, Su Yu reached out and purposely put his arm around Han Yueyao. “Come on, I’ll drive you home.”
