Then, he held up his hand to help her up...
“Yishi, look how scared you are… How could I ever blame you? Come on, it’s cold on the floor. Get up.”
Song Yishi wasn’t used to this man’s gentle tone.
Shaking, she got up… Seeing the smile on the man’s face only made her more terrified.
“I’m sorry that I failed you,” Song Yishi apologized again out of fear.
“It’s okay, what you did was good enough.” The man smiled as he gently caressed Song Yishi’s cheeks.
On the way back, Qin Chu drove very slowly...
He kept on thinking about Song Yishi’s exact purpose for calling him over tonight, as drugging him shouldn’t be her end goal...
When he returned to South Hill Manor, Huo Mian was asleep from exhaustion.
Qin Chu carefully laid down beside her and hugged her tightly from behind...
When she woke up, he was going to tell her all the secrets of her identity.
If Huo Mian wanted to go find her family, he would follow her to the ends of the earth.
If Huo Mian didn’t want to, he would respect her decision.
At six in the morning, there was chaos downstairs.
“Young Master, someone is here,” Uncle Li knocked and shouted.
“Okay, I got it.” After Qin Chu responded, Huo Mian woke up with a start.
“Sweetie, what’s going on? What happened?” Huo Mian woke up and groggily asked.
“I’m not sure either, I’ll go find out.”
“No, I’m coming with you.”
Huo Mian immediately lost her sleepiness. She sat up, went to wash, and headed downstairs with Qin Chu.
When they arrived downstairs, they saw the lobby full of police officers.
“What’s going on?”
Seeing so many cops here early in the morning meant that something bad had happened.
“Mr. Qin, I’m Captain He Hongfei of the Major Crimes Unit.”
“Major Crimes Unit?” Qin Chu’s eyebrows rose, as it was the first time he saw a police officer from that department.
It was more mysterious than Gao Ran’s department; he heard that this department was under the direct jurisdiction of the provincial government and only appeared for big cases.
Why did they come at this point in time?
“Mr. Qin, we have reason to suspect that you’re related to a murder case that took place last night. Please come with us.”
“I think you guys make a mistake, how could my husband kill somebody?’ Huo Mian was confused.
“Mrs. Qin, your husband was the only one who saw Mayor Song’s daughter last night, so we have reason to suspect-”
“Wait, do you mean… Song Yishi is dead?” Hearing this made Huo Mian’s expression change.
“That is correct.”
“What? Song Yishi died?” Qin Chu was beyond surprised as well.
“Yes.”
“How could that be?” Huo Mian couldn’t believe the sudden news.
The leading police scanned Qin Chu and Huo Mian’s faces and coldly said, “Ms. Song died around 3 AM this morning… After investigation, we found that Mr. Qin’s car was the only one that stopped by her mansion. There were no other suspects.”
“How did she die?” Qin Chu said, thinking back to Song Yishi’s abnormal behavior last night.
He did find it a bit strange, but he didn’t think that a living, breathing human being would die just a few hours after he saw her.
“Her death was brutal… We have to keep the details confidential for now. Mr. Qin, please come with us. We have some questions we need to ask you.”
“Okay.” Qin Chu didn’t kill anybody, so he feared nothing.
“Honey…” Huo Mian, on the other hand, didn’t want to let Qin Chu’s hand go.
“It’s fine, I’m only there for questioning. I’ll be back soon, I believe that the law is just.”
Qin Chu turned around and comforted Huo Mian...
Then, he got onto the police vehicle and left.
Seeing Qin Chu leave made Huo Mian feel extremely uneasy.
She had no idea that Qin Chu’s departure would hurt her forever.
– At eight in the morning –
Every media outlet in the city covered the giant murder case.
The horror of this case shocked the entire country...
