Chapter 2518 The Last Ace (18)
Upon hearing this, Pudding immediately ran up to them and interrupted, “Daddy, Little Bean is trying to say that you and Mommy’s relationship is so strong that you should give us a younger brother. Then, our family will become bigger and happier.”
“But I heard the word ‘bully’ just now,” Qin Chu latched on, and Little Bean ran behind her sister guiltily.
“Ahem... Daddy, you must have misunderstood. I think Little Bean is trying to say that if you guys don’t have another kid, other people will think that we’re bullying you and Mommy into not having another one.”
“Oh, I see...” Qin Chu nodded thoughtfully.
Little Bean let out a sigh of relief and put her arms around her sister. She muttered, “Pudding, you’re really good.”
“So Daddy, are you going to listen to us or not?”
“Of course I am.” Qin Chu nodded.
“Great! Treat Mommy better than, okay?” The twins’ faces immediately lit up.
“Daddy, maybe you should make Mommy a midnight snack. I bet she’ll be super touched when she gets home,” Little Bean suggested.
“Is that really necessary?” Qin Chu laughed.
“I think it is necessary, it’ll make her happy,” Pudding chimed in.
“Um... okay then.”
In the end, under the watchful eyes of his daughters, Mr. Qin had no choice but to make Huo Mian a bowl of noodles.
By the time he was done, it was already half-past ten. The twins were dozing off, so Qin Chu’s mother took them upstairs for bed. Qin Chu sat in the living room for a little while longer, and he even called Huo Mian. However, her phone was off and finally, Qin Chu went upstairs to bed as well.
Huo Mian was exhausted by the time she walked out of the OR for the second time.
Vice Director Huo, would you like something to eat? I can call the cafeteria,” one of the scrub nurses offered, but she shook her head. “No, it’s fine, I’ll grab a quick bite at home. You guys have had a long day as well, you should all go home. Take the patient to the ICU and tell the on-call nurse to keep a close eye on him. Call me if anything happens.”
“Yes, Ma’am.”
Huo Mian then returned to her office; she poured herself a cup of water and took a few giant gulps before feeling like herself again. She took out her phone but realized that it had run out of juice. Turning towards her wardrobe, she took off her white lab coat and was just about to put on her jacket when she heard a knock outside.
“Come in.”
“Dr. Huo.”
“Dr. Liu, it’s late, why are you still here?” Huo Mian was slightly surprised to see Liu Ze.
“Mhm, an emergency came in and I’ve been operating all evening. I heard the same thing happened to you.”
“Yeah, I just finished up.”
“You haven’t eaten yet, have you? I was starving so I ordered some food. I ordered some for you as well.” Then, Liu Ze put a takeout bag on Huo Mian’s desk.
“No thank you, you didn’t have to do that.”
“Just have some, but... do you mind eating with me? I hate eating alone, haha, food always tastes better when other people are around.”
“Um...” Huo Mian wanted to refuse, but Liu Ze didn’t really give her the opportunity to.
“Okay, let’s sit.” She had no choice but to offer Liu Ze the seat across from her.
She opened the takeout box to notice that it was from Ah-Xin’s Ramen. Was this a coincidence, or...?
You like their ramen, right?” Liu Ze asked with a smile.
“How did you know?” Huo Mian looked up cautiously.
