Chapter 217  : The Absence of a Good Relationship

“After a clear investigation is performed, we’ve discovered that Yao Ran and Yao Tangdidn’t have a good relationship. In fact, there was a rumor that the former had something to do with Yao Tangalmost dropping out of school. However, the details of the entire exchange are unknown.”

Upon reading this, Cheng Wei’s eyes lit up. A smile crossed her features.

They weren’t on good terms?

Well, the enemy of my enemy is my friend—wasn’t that right? As Yao Ran and Yao Tangweren’t on good terms, then Cheng Weicould start right at the source. Her lips twitched upward.

The woman grabbed her phone out of her pocket and took all the pictures she needed. Once she was finished, she shoved it back and stood up.

“Uncle Zhang, I’ll be leaving now.”

Cheng Wei glanced at Chef Zhang—their private chef—and smiled. “I won’t disturb his phone call anymore. I’ll be staying at my hotel, and will be coming back some other day.”

“Of course, take care, Miss Cheng Wei!”

The old man waved his hand.

Cheng Wei stepped out of the door and immediately called in her investigator. “Hello,” she whispered. “Yeah, I need you to check something out for me. I want you to investigate the relationship between Yao Tangand another person I know. I want the information by the end of the day. I’ll pay double the price.”

“Of course. I’ll need their names.”

The person had also changed his tone from the sudden assignment.

Three hours after Cheng Wei had sent Yao Rana message, she received another call from the investigator she had hired.

“Miss,” the man spoke as soon as she picked up the phone. “The information you need has been sent to your email. Please check it out.”

He immediately hung up the phone.

Cheng Wei quickly jumped out of her bed and sprinted to her computer. Turning it on, her gaze flickered at the new email she had just received before clicking on it.

The email opened.

Cheng Wei widened her eyes as she glanced from word to word. The more she read, the more agitated she became. Her jaw dropped. It can’t be!

It seemed that this was the story of a real and fake daughter.

Yao Tang was the true child of the Yao Family, while Yao Ranwas the true child of the country bumpkin. It seemed that Yao Ran’s parents had stolen her and raised her in the countryside.

When she turned three years old, the same country bumpkin parents abandoned her. It was then when an old couple of the Yao Family had picked her up. Only then was she able to grow safe and sound.

Yao Ran...

A trace of excitement flashed in her eyes. It seemed that this was an integral point in not just her relationship with the other sister, but also in her goal of ensuring that Yao Tang would forever disappear from City A.

As Yao Tang was the true daughter of the Yao Family, Yao Ranmust’ve done everything she could to ruin her reputation. Ruining her reputation would make Yao Raneven more irreplaceable. It was intriguing.

She is someone Cheng Wei could cooperate with.

After all, Yao Ran isn’t that stupid to turn her offer down.

Her fingers drummed against the table as she leaned in closer, deep in thought.

..

“Miss Cheng Wei, it’s nice to meet you.”

When Yao Ran received a phone call from a woman who referred to herself as Cheng Zhou’s sister, she immediately came running to a high-end coffee shop. There, she could see a well-dressed woman sitting in the corner of the room. She extended her hand.

Cheng Wei took off her sunglasses and shook her hand. “I’m Cheng Wei, Cheng Zhou’s sister,” she introduced herself, motioning to the chair in front of her. “Please sit.”

“Thank you.”

Cheng Wei was the one who had come knocking at her door. That meant she obviously had a favor to ask her.

She straightened her back.

“So you’re the one who messed up my brother’s pants.” Cheng Wei smiled, arching up an eyebrow.

While her voice was faint, there was a familiar sharpness to her tone.

Yao Ran, caught off guard, immediately apologized, “I’m sorry. I—I didn’t do it on purpose. Please, if you’d let me compensate for his clothes, I’ll happily do it. It really was an accident.”

She flushed in embarrassment.
